Chris Guilfoyle

Chris Guilfoyle is a Dublin-based guitarist, composer, bandleader and educator. He completed his BA in Jazz Performance at in Dublin in 2010, and his master’s degree from Lucerne University, in 2014. Chris has toured regularly around Ireland and abroad, leading his group Umbra, a critically acclaimed quintet featuring some of Ireland’s promising musicians. He has also played with some major jazz figures including Dave Liebman, Jim Black, Tom Rainey, Theo Bleckmann, Nils Wogram, Ralph Peterson, John O'Gallagher and David Binney. Other projects as a leader or a sideman include Aleka (sideman), Oxygen Thief (leader), Collider (leader) as well as with international quintet Ydivide who recently toured in Switzerland, Germany and the UK.
