Bobby Shew

Bobby Shew, born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, played trumpet in the U.S. Army before joining Tommy Dorsey's band and later Woody Herman and then the Buddy Rich big bands in the mid-to-late 1960s. He worked with Tom Jones band while in Las Vegas, before moving to Los Angeles in 1972, where he did much studio and live work some of the top big bands of the 1970s Akiyoshi/Tabackin, Louis Bellson, Maynard Ferguson, and others. From 1978 Shew released several albums as leader. Additionally, he is passionate about jazz education and mentors jazz musicians and teaches students worldwide.
